PKU Anamix first spoon is a food for medical use for phenylketonuria (PKU), suitable from 6 months to the age of 5 years. A powdered, spoonable protein substitute based on amino acids, very low in phenylalanine, with carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Contains long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (AA). A spoonable consistency is achieved by adding water.

This product should not be used as a sole source of protein but should be used in combination with a protein source such as breast milk, infant formula or other protein sources to meet the phenylalanine, fluid and general nutritional needs of the infant/child. These additional amounts are prescribed by the doctor or dietician.

PKU Anamix first spoon is a food for medical use. Medical nutrition is recommended by a doctor or dietician.

Preparation

The recommended concentration is 1 sachet dissolved in 10 ml of water. 

  1. Wash your hands and clean the preparation surface.
  2. Place the recommended amount of powder in a bowl. 
  3. Slowly add the recommended amount of water and stir slowly with a clean spoon. Mix until thick. This may take several minutes. The consistency can be adjusted by adding more or less water as needed.

This product should be prepared immediately before use. Any leftover product should be discarded if not used within 1 hour of preparation.

Storage advice

An opened sachet should be stored in a sealed container and stored within 24 hours.

One sachet of PKU Anamix first spoon provides 5 grams of protein equivalent.

The daily dosage of PKU Anamix first spoon must be determined by the doctor or dietician and depends on the age, weight and medical condition of the patient.

Usage 

The recommended amount should be taken in 3 to 5 equal portions throughout the day. Mix the prescribed amount of powder with calculated amounts of other foods or drinks, such as water, fruit juice or fruit puree.
