The Flocare® Bengmark™ is a nasoduodenal tube. This is designed for administering tube feeding through the nose directly into the small intestine.

After major abdominal surgery, your stomach may not function (properly). In that case, the doctor may decide to place the Flocare® Bengmark™ nasoduodenal tube. The tube will be placed before your surgery.

The Flocare® Bengmark™ nasoduodenal tube has a spiral at the end of the tube. This spiral has two functions:

  1. It moves the tube past the exit from the stomach into the small intestine
  2. Once the tube has reached the correct location in the small intestine, the curl of the tube nestles against the intestinal wall. This prevents the tube from moving back into the stomach.

Advantages:

  1. No surgery is required to place the Flocare® Bengmark™ nasoduodenal tube. This means that placing the Bengmark is not that drastic.
  2. The curl at the end of the tube ensures that the tube stays in place in the small intestine.
  3. The probe is made of skin-friendly and soft material. You will experience minimal discomfort from the tube.
